OUR STORY
SRILA PRABHUPADA
Srila Prabhupada (1896–1977) is the Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Born in Calcutta, he received the instruction of his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, to spread Krishna consciousness throughout the English-speaking world.
At the age of 69, he sailed alone to New York with almost no resources and established a global spiritual movement that today spans more than 600 temples worldwide. He translated over 70 volumes of Vedic scripture — including the Bhagavad-gita As It Is and the Srimad-Bhagavatam — giving the world direct access to the highest spiritual wisdom.
He established Sridham Mayapur as the international headquarters of ISKCON, fulfilling the vision of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu that the holy dhama would one day be known throughout the entire world.

HIS DIVINE GRACE A.C. BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI PRABHUPADA

ABOUT ME
My journey began long before I discovered Bhakti Yoga. I was raised in a Christian family and, at around the age of 16, I began searching more deeply for meaning and direction in life. Through various life experiences and challenges, I found myself sincerely praying to God, asking to be guided, protected, and led to the right path.
By divine arrangement, I was introduced to Bhakti Yoga, the path of devotion centered around chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. Over time, as I continued this practice, I began to experience a deep inner transformation and a sense of peace that I had never felt before.
As I go deeper into meditation and study the teachings left by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, I am gradually understanding the profound and transcendental nature of this knowledge.
ABOUT THE DHAMA
Located in West Bengal, India, on the banks of the holy Ganges, Mayapur is the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu — who is understood by Vaishnava tradition to be the combined form of Radha and Krishna who appeared 500 years ago to distribute the gift of divine love to every living being.
Today, Mayapur is also the international headquarters of ISKCON — home to the magnificent TOVP, a global community of thousands of devotees, and an unbroken line of daily worship and kirtan that has continued without pause for decades.
